The best first step to determine if there's a mold problem is to test your dust with The Dust Test.
Contaminants like mold and bacteria settle in our dust and move throughout the home. Testing this dust allows for a more thorough measurement of contaminants present. If the numbers are high, chances are there’s a source in the home that is releasing particles into the space and causing unwanted exposures.
If the levels are high, then it's time to bring in an inspector. The data collected will create a roadmap for the inspector and give you the ability to say, "Please help me find where these contaminants are coming from." They can go through the entire interior and exterior of the home, determine which areas are problematic, which mold species are present, what the sources of the mold are, and if any other contaminants are present like mycotoxins and bacteria. The process will take a few hours and cost more upfront, but it will give you an accurate picture of what the air quality is like in your home.
