In this episode, Michael Rubino sits down with the dynamic June Archer to talk all things mold.
Their chat:
Michael explains what mold is, how it spreads, and the similarities between mold and weeds, particularly when it comes to their creation of spores. That’s what makes remediation so difficult.
Michael and June discuss the most common places to see mold and the main ingredients needed for mold to start growing and colonizing. They go through proper ways to take care of mold and why wiping it down with a cleaning product may not work.
When it comes to remediation, Michael discusses his knowledge about mold and why proper remediation is so important. Especially for those who are suffering from symptoms from mold exposure. One mold colony pumps a large number of spores into the air, finding their way into the HVAC, into other rooms, and adhering to surfaces all over the home. Michael discusses the main symptoms he’s seen from sensitive individuals he’s worked with, and how important it is to mention the potential of a moldy home to doctors to help in their diagnosis.
Insurance companies are a major part of remediation but don’t always ensure the homes are safe for individuals to return to. Michael goes through his experience with insurance companies while working on remediation projects, and the progress that needs to be made in the industry at large.
